Accidents Waiting to Happen

TWAIN / Santiago Taccetti & Natalia Ibáñez Lario

MAY 7TH - MAY 30TH
OPENING RECEPTION MAY 7TH 8-11PM

LIVE WITH ANIMALS
210 KENT AVENUE
BROOKLYN, NY 11211

During the three weeks before their first solo show in NY, TWAIN, Barcelona based collective formed by Santiago Taccetti and Natalia Ibáñez Lario, will scan Brooklyn's urban facade for common waste and other kinds of disposed of objects. Employing the idea of dérive or drifts through the city they used by the International Situationist they will collect materials and bring them back to the studio. With the found objects they will create unfinished sculptural accidents that will be on display in the gallery on the opening night. The attending public will be asked to finish the work themselves with materials like candles or chains that will be laid out for them to use at their own will. By the end of the night parts of the sculptures will be free for the public to take home or to dispose of as waste, thus completing the cycle in the relation between the art process and the object.
